CanDo Background
Due to state mandated tracking and maintenance of student competency records, the Virginia Department of Education through the CTE Resource Center, offers templates that may be used for this purpose.
Arlington County—in association with SchoolTool—developed a Web-based competency-tracking program. The program was supported by the Virginia Department of Education and piloted over two years. Using eight school divisions' feedback to test the functionality and capabilities, CanDo was enhanced to more closely fit state needs for reporting, rating, and broad accessibility.
This free, competency-tracking system is now being offered throughout the state with continued support and training opportunites from the CTE Resource Center.
